GDN’s 16th Annual Global Development Conference, Casablanca, June 11-13, 2015 Morocco

GDN’s 16th Annual Global Development Conference is organized around the theme of Agriculture for Sustainable Growth: Challenges and Opportunities for a New ‘Green Revolution’ and will feature some of the work supported by GDN and its Regional Network Partners, as well as research studies from all over the world. The Conference is being held in partnership with OCP Policy Center and the Economic Research Forum (ERF). The Conference is also supported by African Development Bank, IDRC and the World Bank.

Eminent Economists and Social Scientists attending the Conference include Prabhu Pingali (Cornell University), Shanta Devarajan (World Bank), Shenggen Fen (IFPRI), Joachim von Braun (ZEF), François Bourguignon (EUDN), Alexandros Sarris (University of Athens) amongst others. Ministers and Former Ministers like Marcelo Regúnaga (Argentina), Harison Randriarimanana (Madagascar), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Nigeria) and Ahmed Galal (Egypt) will also attend the Conference.

KOICA Development Research Award: Relevance of Korea’s Development Experience for Developing Countries

New Delhi, 13 March, 2014 -
Social science researchers who are currently working on a research paper that investigates the South Korean growth experience and provides an analytical benchmark to analyze growth issues and prospects in developing countries can apply now for the KOICA Development Research Award that is accepting submissions on this specific theme. To encourage research on this topic and recognize outstanding researchers from developing countries, GDN, with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has launched the KOICA Development Research Award (KOICA Award).

Developing country researchers from all social sciences disciplines are invited to undertake original empirical and comparative analysison the relevance of Korea’s development experience.

Pascal Lamy guest of honor of a CUTS-GDN forum

New Delhi, 30 JANUARY 2013 — "The current deadlock in international discussions on trade or on climate change and other global issues find their sources in the big geopolitical transformation that accompanies the rise of emerging countries in the world economy," said Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the WTO. "Consensus is still lacking on the balance of contributions and benefits between the US, the EU, Japan and the like on the one side, and India, China, Brazil and the like on the other side, particularly on the Doha Round." Lamy was speaking on the challenges of global governance at the signing of a MoU between CUTS International and Global Development Network (GDN) on Capacity Building, in New Delhi, 30 January 2013.
