Networking and Outreach

GDN believes that good policy research, when applied properly can accelerate development and improve people’s lives. There has been increasing recognition that research, especially research capacity and research leadership in developing and transition countries, is a critical component for economic and social development. And one of the vital steps for promoting such an environment – achieving a mass of researchers, who are globally interconnected, is through networking and outreach.

GDN facilitates networking and outreach through three main avenues: The Annual Global Development Conferences, Global Policy Dialogues, and GDNet.

  • The Annual Global Development Conferences provide a venue for the exchange of ideas on the most pressing development challenges with internationally influential academics, policymakers, renowned researchers, representatives of national and international organizations, and sponsors of research.

  • The Global Policy Dialogues are a series of consultations intended to stimulate evidence-based policy debates on global issues of interest to developing countries and to exchange ideas with global and regional partners in the research and policymaking community.
