The Global Development Network held a Policy Lab at the UN World Press Freedom Day on 3 May 2018 in Accra, Ghana.

The Global Development Network partnered with UNESCO to share methods that allow researchers to sharpen their research questions and methodologies based on real world input from policy actors. This will  not only create an early demand for research findings amongst users in policy and practice, but also to create a research agenda of direct interest to policy constituencies on press freedom. Participants at the Policy Lab included both researchers and policy actors working on press and media freedom in developing countries around the world. During the event, researchers developed a pitch and defined a research question with the benefit of face-to-face interactions with policy actors.
