GDN invites expressions of interest for the position of GDN Fellow (Biodiversity and Development).

The position will combine a focus on research capacity building for multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research at the crossroads of biodiversity and development, targeted at rising researchers in the Global South; the management of global calls and selection processes for research funding involving developing countries; and capacity to manage and monitor multi-year and multi-country research programs to high quality standards.

The key competencies for the role will include proven advanced research training in economics or other social sciences, previous experience of working in biodiversity and/or development, as well as strong interest in multidisciplinary research, including across social and natural sciences. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of proven experience managing research or implementation initiatives in developing countries, and a strong interest in developing a career at the interface of policy-relevant research and research-related programming in economics and the social sciences.

Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is essential. Knowledge of the current global scientific and/or funding landscape in the field of biodiversity management and conservation would be an asset. The position will likely be part-time and remotely based. GDN welcomes enquiries also from academics and researchers intending to keep a part-time academic affiliation to conduct their own research and teaching, including qualified PhD candidates with previous work experience and nearing completion of their degrees.

The start date and conditions for the position are being determined, since the agreement between GDN and its funding and program partner has just been signed. The last date for applications is Friday 7 August 2020 and interested candidates are invited to inquire and submit their expressions of interest as soon as possible. The detailed TOR for the position will be shared with interested candidates by email.

Enquiries and expressions of interest can be directed, along with a CV, to Francesco Obino, GDN Head of Programs, on fobino@gdn.int and jobs@gdn.int
