A #Knowledge2Action lab on the impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to Climate Change was held in New Delhi, India on the 20 -21 November, 2018.

Adapting effectively to Climate Change has become one of the most pressing needs of our time, and is especially relevant for those most impacted by it. It is increasingly well known that development processes should more fully integrate adaptation strategies, and that adaptation action should be informed by place- and context- specific scientific knowledge and research.

The Lima Adaptation Knowledge Initiative - launched by the UNFCCC's Nairobi Work Programme at the COP20 - identified 85 priority knowledge gaps in six subregions of the world, including the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH), and is now focused on bridging these gaps.

The Global Development Network, in collaboration with the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) India, Oxfam, the UNFCCC and UN Environment organized the #Knowledge2Action lab, which aimed to define a strategy and develop the tools to close the knowledge gaps in the HKH subregion and downstream countries in South and Southeast Asia.

The lab – which was run in a highly interactive workshop format – was held at the India Habitat Center, and showcased the potential of systematic collaboration between key stakeholders to push the frontiers of knowledge on climate change adaptation in increasingly actionable ways. Participants of the lab included a competitive selection of knowledge producers/researchers, matched first with knowledge users/policy actors and then with climate financial actors and experts.

Results were showcased at the COP 24 in Bonn, in June 2019.
