Fiji Joins the GDN International Assembly

In July 2024, the Government of Fiji successfully completed the membership process to join the Global Development Network (GDN) International Assembly, becoming its sixth member country. By signing an Instrument of Accession, Fiji has formally conferred international status to the GDN, further solidifying its global influence and reach.

Fiji's inclusion marks a significant milestone as it is the first country to join as a funding member, reflecting its commitment to fostering international development and collaboration.

GDN is both proud and honoured to welcome Fiji into its ranks. This partnership underscores Fiji's dedication to contributing to global development initiatives and the shared vision of advancing sustainable development goals. With Fiji's support, GDN is poised to enhance its efforts in promoting research and knowledge-sharing across developing countries, driving impactful and inclusive growth worldwide.

The GDN International Assembly comprises five other sovereign states:

  • Colombia
  • Hungary
  • India
  • Spain
  • Sri Lanka

The assembly maintains a general oversight over GDN’s activities to ensure that GDN fulfils its purpose and exercises its functions, and convenes once every two years or more often if necessary.
