Daniele Cantini

Daniele is a Fellow of the Knowledge Systems programme at the Global Development Network. He currently leads the Doing Research Assessment in Tunisia and oversees the expansion of GDN’s Doing Research global initiative in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Based in Germany, he is also an affiliated researcher at the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient.

He is a social anthropologist with a PhD from the University of Modena, Italy and has been conducting research across the Middle East, with a primary focus on Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon, since 2001. His work explores youth and subjectivity, higher education and the institutional dimensions of critique, doctoral studies and knowledge production, printed media, religion, and migration.

Daniele has previously taught in Germany and Italy, held research positions in Egypt, Germany, Lebanon, and Switzerland, participated in research projects in Italy and the United States, and led research projects in Germany and Italy.
