Le programme Institutional Research Capacity Building (IRCB) est une composante de Global Development Network dans le cadre du Programme « Recherche au Sud », notamment en Afrique Francophone. 
 
De ce fait, IRCB ambitionne d’appuyer les institutions de recherches francophones et africaines. Ainsi, cinq institutions de recherche en sciences sociales sont sélectionnées à travers un concours compétitif et inclusif. Elles sont ensuite soutenues pour renforcer leurs capacités de recherche, sur la base de priorités et de stratégies auto-identifiées, et pour stimuler la production de recherche sur des sujets pertinents pour les politiques par de jeunes chercheurs.

IRCB fournit aux institutions sélectionnées des fonds de renforcement des capacités institutionnelles et un budget pour gérer un processus d'octroi compétitif ciblant les jeunes chercheurs et se concentrant sur les liens entre les dimensions économiques, environnementales et sociales du développement durable dans la région (24 mois). Le programme encourage également des échanges réguliers entre les institutions participantes sur la manière de renforcer efficacement les capacités de recherche dans l'espace de recherche en Afrique francophone.

 
Les cinq institutions de recherche bénéficiaires sont: 
  • Le Laboratoire de Recherche sur l'Innovation pour le Développement Agricole (LRIDA), Université de Parakou, Bénin
  • Le Centre de Recherche pour le Développement (CRD), Université Alassane Ouattara, Cote d'Ivoire
  • L'Université de Goma (UNIGOM), République Démocratique du Congo
  • Le Laboratoire de Géographie Humaine (LABGEO), Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines, Université Cheikh Anta Diop, Sénégal
  • L'Unité de formation et de recherche en Economie, Management et Ingénierie juridique (UFREMIJ), Université Aloune Diop, Bambey, Sénégal

The Institutional Research Capacity Building (IRCB) program is a component of the Global Development Network within the framework of the ‘Research in the South’ or ‘Recherche au Sud’ Program, particularly in Francophone Africa.

Therefore, the IRCB program aims to support Francophone and African research institutions. Under the program, five social science research institutions have been selected through a competitive and inclusive competition and are being supported to strengthen their research capacities. These institutions have identified their respective priorities and strategies that require this support. The larger goal is to stimulate the production of research on policy-relevant topics by young researchers.

The selected institutions receive funds for institutional capacity building and a budget to manage a competitive grant process targeting young researchers and focusing on the links between the economic, environmental and social dimensions of sustainable development in the African region for 24 months. The program also encourages regular exchanges between participating institutions on how to effectively build research capacity in the research space in Francophone Africa.

 

The five research institutions grantees are:
